The island is located just barely north of Mexico and is connected to the state of Texas by a long causeway, with Brownsville only twenty minutes away. It's a small town located on a little island taking up almost two square miles in its strip along the Gulf of Mexico. With a tropical climate and atmosphere it makes for an easy choice for a Spring Break getaway, and it carries a few advantages due to its location. For one, it's in America, which means that there isn't going to be any need to get, or update, a passport in order to travel. It's further south than Miami, giving the town a warmer climate during the month of March, and only a short flight away through the state of Texas.
As for the cost of the trip, that varies depending on the usual: how many people you're going with and how long you're staying. There are two methods that you can go about planning your trip to South Padre. There is the typical route that involves airplane ticket purchasing and hotel booking and then there are booking options through travel agencies, such as Inertia Tours. They offer various packages, that are generally directed towards, larger groups, including the costs of air travel and stay with meal plans, all under a single price per person for the entire week, along with various bonus packages.
Last, but not least, it might be a good idea to plan ahead. As spring break draws closer the rates go higher and the openings begin to close. If you're thinking about going anywhere spring break, it's a good idea to plan ahead, and while you do it's a good idea to think about South Padre. Whether you're going by yourself, with a couple of friends or in a large group, South Padre Island makes for both a viable and enjoyable spring break destination.
