Incoming freshmen and undergraduate transfer students will pay $324 per credit hour in the fall, a 6.6 percent increase.
The Central Michigan University Board of Trustees unanimously approved the increase at its Thursday meeting over two other options.
A student taking a total of 30 credit hours for two semesters will pay $9,720 for tuition instead of last falls' $9,120.

A May 30 e-mail from Eastern to H&H Shuttle Taxi Inc. put shuttle bus services in doubt, but Dan Nadler announced Monday that an in-house program has been finished and is in place.
Two brand new busses have been leased for a cost of $50,000 per year, and the university is in the process of acquiring insurance and hiring bus drivers.

A month ago, the courageous acts of a local police officer were rewarded. Officer James Rowland of the Macomb Police Department received the Life Saving Medal award June 6 for saving an attempted suicide victim.
Rowland was one of the officers responding to a suicide complaint on March 18 when a suicidal woman shot herself in the chest.

Over 76 people crammed into a conference room at Carnegie Public Library Monday night to discuss recycling concerns in Charleston. Citizens for Recycling, a new advocacy group formed two weeks ago, organized the event. The group's main goal is to work on pushing progressive recycling ordinances in Charleston.

Students planning to live at Burnham 310 on east Springfield Avenue in Champaign will be looking for temporary residence for the beginning of the fall 2008 semester - but it seems those options are now limited to off-campus locations.
In a letter sent last week to lessees from Burnham 310 developers, tenants were informed they would be able to sign month-to-month leases with other local realty groups until their new unit becomes available for move-in.
